An Assignment from Baz
The party finishes speaking with Baz, he lets them know that he will set up their next job and in the meantime their rooms are covered at the inn. He lets Arbin know that he has a more immediate job for him down in the casino. The next day while Arbin was working in the casino, Lorelie and Amérre are approached in the bar by an associate of Baz's named Myrnin. He tells the group he is looking into Carson's disappearance and asks Amérre and Lorelei to assist.
The three investigators start with Cosan's shop as he is Carson's uncle. There they speak with Tendy Tealeaf, the Halfling shopkeeper. While there Myrnin also breaks into Cosan's office. They learn from Tendy that Carson had been secretly dating Leanna, the daughter of Balthazar Marshall, a rich merchant and member of the Royal Court. It seems when her father learned of the relationship he forbade them from seeing each other. He also immediately began seeking a suitor to marry her off to among the nobles of neighboring kingdoms.
Crossing the Kings Road
The party sets off for Daor Town to investigate further. Through speaking with shop owners, such as Rowena of the magic shop and Bishop of the wine and cheese shop, they learn that families from out of town have come to seek Leanna's hand. Lucas Taggert, whose father is a lumber merchant from Treascair, is known to Lorelei from her time there. The other family is the Mazany family from Severni. The group also makes contact in the Marshall family, the servant, Annabel.
An Old Friend
Back in Old Town the group speaks with Sean, the young man they encountered when ambushed by Argus. He points them toward Carson's roommate, Patrick Feeney. They speak with Patrick but don't learn much new. When investigating his apartment they find conflicting evidence. In Carson's room they find a hidden set of fancy clothing which had not been worn before. In Patrick's room they find a goodbye note to him from Carson. They also investigate the apartment of Carson's father but do not find anything of interest.
Narrowly Avoided Disaster
When the group returns to the Marshall home to reconnect with Annabel they find she has been discovered by the head butler attempting to connect the group and their investigation with Leanna. This leads to their arrest by the Royal Guard. Fortunately Myrnin is able to find a Baz loyalist amongst them, Captain Peter Flint. He is able to keep them from being detained. He also lets them know that it was Balthazar Marshall that kept the Royal Guard from looking into Carson's disappearance for fear his relationship with Leanna would be made public. He tells the group to head back to Sual's and that he would meet them there later in the evening.
