Session 1

June 30

Escape from Iolair

The King is dead and his brother has seized power. He has charged several members of the court and Royal Guard with treason. Among those charged is General Fergal Devlin, Arbin's benefactor and Lorelei's mentor. With their help, Fergal is able to escape Iolair with his husband, the wizard Flynn, and their daughter, Miriam.

The Road to Cothrom

Arbin and Lorelei are traveling by carriage with the Devlin family to Cothrom, capital city of the Kingdom of Eucoraich. Just outside the city, their carriage is beset by bandits. After dispatching the bandit captain, the group is able to quickly take out four of the remaining bandits and capture the last. It is then that they discover an Air Genasi, Amérre, who overheard the battle and came to investigate.

The group questions Sean, the remaining bandit, they learn that the bandit captain's name was Argus and that he may work for someone named Baz. The group invite Amérre to join them as they travel to Cothrom, bringing Sean along with them as well.

Upon arriving in the city they set Sean free, give him some gold, and caution him to clean up his act. Fergal tells them it is best if they separate as he is unsure if the new King of Treascair has connected Arbin or Lorelei to him. He tells them he will take his family north to stay with Flynn's cousins.

Fight Club

As the group heads to the docks to possibly find work on a ship they walk past a warehouse that belongs to someone named Baz. There they purchase tickets from a twitchy Gnome, Darrow, for a show in progress. Turns out they have caught the main event title match of a wrestling show. During the show they learn from someone in the crowd, Finn Cody, about a fight club that takes place down in the basement. It is a place for serious fighters and serious gamblers.

After speaking with the twin Hobgoblin guards, Droz and Durz, they head downstairs. Arbin and Lorelei decide to fight, while Amérre decides to bet on them. They quickly dispatch an Ogre Brute, avoiding his vicious chain weapon. Amérre then decides to join the group as they take on a pair of Dybbuk and make quick work of them as well. Hearing of their impressive victories, the kingpin Baz decides to see them in action for himself and chooses his Hobgoblin guards as their final challengers. Droz and Durz are joined by the unassuming Zerik. The group quickly learns that Zerik is the real threat when he casts Devastating Bolt on Lorelei. She is able to overcome this powerful spell and the group dispatches the Hobgoblins as well. They are paid their cut of the fight purse and make their way to Sual's Tavern to find lodging for the night.

Sual's Tavern

The group arrives at the tavern and meets Sual, a charming Half-Elf. They learn of the casino downstairs and Arbin and Amérre head down to gamble while Lorelei stays at the bar flirting with Sual and hoping to meet the Tiefling wrestling champion, Zarnom Glory.

In the casino Arbin and Amérre play several hands of black jack, challenge the Drow, Scian, to dagger toss, and Arbin takes part in a horse race on Nightmares. When they rejoin Lorelei upstairs Baz arrives to speak with them.

Baz's Offer

Baz tells the group he is impressed with what he has seen and offers them a chance to make real money. He tells them he sent a courier named Carson Baird north to the town of Cladach where he was to retrieve a package from an associate named Brath and return it to Baz. Two days have passed and Carson has not returned. Baz assumes the worst as he doubts Carson would betray him. He offers the group 500 gold, 100 upfront and the rest when they complete the job, if they track down Carson and determine what happened. He stresses that the priority is the package he was carrying. He tells them if they need any supplies they can stop by Cosan's Supply Shop in town before departing.

The group retires to the rooms they purchased from Sual, intending to leave for Cladach in the morning.
