Session 9

January 28

A Pirate's Life

The winds and the tides stayed favorable and the Promise made great progress over the weeks at sea. Perhaps the group is a good omen. It was not all swabbing decks and singing shanties however, as a familiar foe darkened the horizon. Bones explained that the crew had tangled with the Bronze Claw, a savage group of Kobold pirates, before. After a few cannon volleys, the pirates pulled in close and attempted to board the Promise. A fierce melee ensued with several members of the Promise's crew making their way to the Claw. Amérre's mobility proved to be an asset in this kind of close quarters battle while Bluud displayed some terrifying abilities. While Myrnin stuck to the shadows and benefitted from the confusion to deadly effect, Arbin played with fire, and Lorelei smote pirates left and right.

After a long, pitched battle, the heroes managed to clear the deck and lock the remaining Kobolds below deck, setting the deck on fire. Some would call it a war crime, others merely ridding the seas of a clear and present danger.

Fortunately the days following this battle were a return to peace, allowing the members of the Promise time to rest and rehabilitate. Before long welcome news came from the crow's nest, land was in sight. At long last our heroes would find themselves back on dry land on a new and strange continent.
